Aileen McAteer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New Mexico. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from University of Portland and a Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University. Aileen holds extensive experience in using trauma-informed practices in counseling and supervision and holds a certificate in Trauma-Informed Services in addition to an Addiction Studies Certificate. She is passionate about reducing vicarious trauma and increasing helpers' resiliency in the field.
Aileen's background includes working with diverse people and issues, including survivors of domestic violence, people with addiction, individuals involved in the criminal justice system, veterans and those struggling with trauma. She is trained to use various modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She approaches counseling and therapy with an anti-oppressive practice lens and enjoys empowering others to trust their own voice.
