Who we are
We have provided services in Santa Fe since 1986 as a field-training site for counseling and art therapy students at Southwestern College. Over the past 30-years we have grown and expanded services to accept Medicaid and select commercial insurance plans.
Tierra Nueva Counseling Center provides mental health services for all of New Mexico. Our programs include:
- Adult Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Use (IOP)
- Adult Counseling and Art Therapy for Adults, Children, Couples and Families
- Telehealth Therapy for Adults, Children, Couples and Families
Consistent with the philosophical approach of the college, the students and licensed professionals at Tierra Nueva employ a client-centered and holistic approach based on a transformational view of human development.
We value the unique life journey of each client. Using multiple methods, we strive to balance current best practices and standards in the field while honoring the mental, emotional, cultural, and spiritual complexities of the people we serve.
Based on your needs, we will match you with the right therapist. Our goal is to serve the whole client and we provide supportive services, like navigation, to help resources and connect qualifying clients.
Tierra Nueva is a field-training site for counseling and art therapy graduate students at Southwestern College. All student therapists work under the supervision of experienced faculty licensed in New Mexico. Services provided by student therapists are offered low-cost and may be evaluated on a sliding scale.
