Laurel Hunziker is a student therapist pursuing her Master's in Clinical Counseling at Southwestern College in Santa Fe. Born and raised in downtown Santa Fe, Laurel has a deep connection to the community and ecosystem of Northern New Mexico. Laurel’s Eco Feminist orientation can be traced back to her origin family of artists, as well as her own travels, exploration, and appreciation for diverse cultures.

After receiving a BFA in painting from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, Laurel continued her career in the food service industry. She credits her almost 35 years in that industry with the development of empathy and compassion with a wide array of human animals from all walks of life. Laurel considers her time spent tending bar a honing of the soft skills, such as active listening and resourcefulness; to be very useful during her education at Southwestern College and considers vital to the therapeutic relationship.

Laurel is interested in working in trauma informed Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment, as well as accompanying people through difficult life transitions. Laurel is dedicated to client driven healing and will be a fierce advocate for her clients’ transformations. She would like to continue her education in Somatic work,  EMDR , and eco therapy.
