"tides profeta (they|them) is a student therapist pursuing a Masters of Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM. tides is white, queer, neurodivergent, & grew up in a large blended family of Sicilian-Americans in Upstate NY on the Indigenous lands of the Iroquois nations. they received their B.A. from Hampshire College in creative writing/ movement & social justice. tides approaches counseling from a liberation psychology lens, acknowledging the impacts of oppression & historical trauma on health. Their therapeutic orientation is relational, experiential, feminist, trauma-informed, and grounded in cultural & contextual awareness. They weave in perspectives & techniques from action methods and person-centered, psychodynamic, & emotion-focused therapies; mindfulness; somatic approaches; and creative modalities such as expressive arts, writing, & movement, as feels fit.
