Tierra Nueva Counseling Center provides a variety of different group therapy sessions throughout the year. Some groups are facilitated by independently licensed therapists and others are facilitated by student therapists from Southwestern College.

Therapeutic writing group:
Having trouble navigating a major life change? This group uses writing prompts to explore your past, understand your present, and create a new narrative for your future. Group meets Wednesday nights, January 30– March 13, 7:00-8:30pm. Co-facilitated by Marybeth Hallman and Skip Escareno-Clark, student therapists. Group is still open for clients through February 6th.
Minerals of the Earth Art Therapy Group:
This group will focus on releasing energy that feeds off our anxiety and depression through using clay. We will do structured activities and a free form project, while engaging in discussions about how anxiety and depression affects our daily lives. Facilitated by student therapists Kirsten Vidis and Maryana Newton. Thursdays, from 6:30-8:30, January 10 – March 7. Group is still open for clients through February 7.
Two Faces of the Same Emotions:
Are you having a hard time expressing difficult emotions such as anger and fear? Join us for a therapeutic group where we will be exploring ways on how to express anger and fear through the use of clay and other creative modalities. Group meets Wednesdays from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, February 6th - March 6th. Facilitated by student therapists Maria Vargas and Rebekah Maestas.

Grief and Loss Support:
These groups honor all types of grief and loss and offer a place to explore the grieving process within a supportive community. They are free to those aged 18 and older on a drop-in basis. Our grief support groups are sponsored by Golden Willow Retreat and Rivera Funerals, Cremations & Memorial Garden
Grief and Loss Support meets every Saturday from 10 am - 11:30 am at Tierra Nueva. Please join us.
